NIGHTINGALE SONG - FROM DUSK TO DAWN
(2011)
Nightingales are famous for the power and beauty of their song and for singing through the night. This fascinating selection of nightingale recordings was made by Nick Penny in woods near Glapthorn and Southwick in Northamptonshire. It starts with a nightingale in the evening chorus, then as night falls groups of nightingales and solo birds continue with a remarkable range of songs and calls. Deep in the night their singing gradually slows - the only other sounds are tawny owls and the barks of muntjac deer. At dawn the pace quickens, and nightingales are once again singing in the full glory of a woodland dawn chorus. |
